We, the Muskan Foundation team, led by our Founder Ms. Priti Gupta, Co-Founder Mr. Mohit Gupta, and team members Sagar Reche and Ramdas Chauhan, were deeply moved by the unfortunate incident of a level-three (major) fire that broke out in the slum area of Malad. Here's an account of our visit to this heart-wrenching scene and our efforts to extend a helping hand:

Initial Assessment:

Upon arrival at the incident site, the devastation was evident. The fire had ravaged through the shanties, leaving countless families without homes and belongings. It was a somber moment as we witnessed the charred remains of what were once homes for the underprivileged.

Interaction with Victims:

We approached the victims of this devastating fire incident and engaged in heartfelt conversations with them. They shared their painful stories and struggles, recounting the terrifying moments when the fire engulfed their homes. Their resilience and strength in the face of adversity were truly inspiring.

Promise of Support:

Muskan Foundation firmly believes in its social responsibility to help those in need during such unfortunate incidents. We assured the affected families that we would stand by them and extend our support to help them rebuild their lives.

Immediate Relief Efforts:

Our commitment was followed by action. We revisited the affected area with essential items such as clothing and homely necessities. It was heartening to see the smiles on the faces of those we could help, even if it was just a small step towards recovery.

Fire Incident Details:

The fire incident that we responded to was a level-three (major) fire that occurred in the shanties of Malad's slum area. BMC reported that approximately 2,000 to 3,000 hutments were gutted in the blaze. Tragically, one person lost their life in the incident. Several families were left homeless, and their lives were forever changed.

Fire Control Efforts:

The fire brigade and emergency services worked tirelessly to bring the fire under control. Efforts were made to contain the fire and prevent further destruction. LPG cylinder explosions added to the challenges faced by the firefighters.

Support for the Homeless:

We are pleased to share that temporary accommodation and food have been provided to the homeless victims at three locations. Senior civic officials also visited the site to assess the situation and coordinate relief efforts.

In times of despair, the spirit of unity and compassion shines brightest. Muskan Foundation stands committed to helping these families rebuild their lives and regain their sense of security and comfort.

We invite everyone to join hands with us in making a positive impact in the lives of those who need it most. Together, we can bring hope and healing to our communities.
